Who You Are

As a Data Engineer, you will design and implement a highly inventive and scalable data pipeline. You will be working with incoming data streams from sensors and time-series equipment, as well as small and large batch processes, to serve data to internal partners such as application developers, technology development teams, and battery teams.

You will be responsible for building scalable data integration technologies, working closely with software engineers, data scientists, and database management team to create a next-generation data infrastructure that supports user queries, dashboards, applications, and data analysis.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement data processing frameworks and automation opportunities to increase efficiency. You will develop data tools to support timely delivery of key objectives and bring up Sila's auto-scale silicon anode production facility.

This role will collaborate with the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Software.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and implement data processing and analytics pipeline
  • Develop and maintain data analysis tools for scripting and automation, parameter extraction, exploration, and data visualization
  • Provide data pipeline support to R&D, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and software development teams
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement data processing frameworks and automation opportunities to increase efficiency
  • Engage in advanced manufacturing software product development and delivery to identify and implement improvements in the data pipeline
  • Work closely with source data owners, software engineers, data scientists, and database administrators to build a next-generation data infrastructure
  • Serve data to internal partners such as application developers, technology development teams, and battery teams

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Strong experience in designing / building data pipelines and data architecture using technologies such as SingleStore, Snowflake, SQLServer, Python, Airflow, and Kafka
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Java
  • Ability to write and optimize efficient and scalable SQL queries
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation, parameter extraction, exploration, and modern data visualization technologies
  • Proficiency in data warehousing, data integration, and data modeling concepts deployed on-prem and cloud (AWS) environments
  • Knowledge of data lake architecture and data lake management
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of data governance and data management practices
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
  • Standing in a stationary position 80% of the time

The starting base pay for this role is between $146,000 and $197,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay within these ranges depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future
