About the role
As a Data Engineer the primary role will be to transform data into informative, actionable reporting dashboards for various groups throughout Energy Vault.  This will span internal organizational needs as well as customer services and visualizations.  This role is highly technical in nature and will require scripting, ETL Development, data ingest and consolidation, database administration and dashboard design skills.  This person will need the ability to work cross functionally with various disciplines to understand the needs and support the necessary underlying infrastructure design for establishing necessary data sources.  The main objective of this role is to communicate and cross-functionally collaborate to continually scale and improve upon data ingest and visualization needs across the company.  A passion for innovation, visualization, automation, and communication are essential; along with some out-of-the-box thinking will make you successful in this role.  Energy Vault is a rapidly growing company so you will have an opportunity to be diverse and play an integral part in the company’s future as the company scales.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and develop high quality and comprehensive data visualization.
  • Manage and administer underlying databases to maintain data consistency and data availability.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of underlying infrastructure related to data collection and storage.
  • Develop scripts where necessary to transform data from data source to database for data query.
  • Establish disparate data source connection through API or streaming services to database or data lakes.
  • Work cross functionally with various teams to understand data needs for ingest and consolidation.
  • Qualified Candidates

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • 2+ years of work experience
  • Comfortable working cross functionally
  • Knowledge of different ETL design and development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of how multiple data sources can be consolidated together to produce BI Solutions
  • Extensive experience with visualization tools (Palantir, Grafana, Datadog, Tableau)
  • Breadth of database skills, SQL/NoSQL data storage mechanisms and Big Data technologies
  • (Prometheus, SQL, Loki, MongoDB)
  • Strong scripting experience (python, perl, SQL, T-SQL)
  • Must be a self-starter and have a passion for data visualization
  • Experience connecting systems using standard APIs (REST, SOAP)
  • Linux operating system (OS) skill
  • System integration experience for data collection
  • Able to work with both structured and unstructured data
  • Engineering experience with security information and event management (SIEM)
  • AWS Experience is a plus
  • IoT monitoring and visualization is a plus
  • Spark experience is a plus
  • Strong communication (verbal and non-verbal) and organizational skills, innovative, open-minded, and a team player
  • Must be willing to travel domestic and international an estimated 15-25%
