Archer is designing, manufacturing, and operating a fully electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150mph while producing minimal noise. What You’ll Do:

As the Cost Engineer you will analyze production costs, establish cost target methodologies, and enable cross-functional opportunity assessments to drive toward those targets. You will research internal and external data points and bring expertise to cost sensitivity evaluations, enabling data-driven negotiations and design-for-cost evaluations.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment to model the cost of materials, components, and assemblies throughout the development and production lifecycle
  • Develop detailed & dynamic should-cost models to:
    • Influence design for cost initiatives 
    • Impact sourcing strategy and the associated negotiations
    • Educate key stakeholders on cost sensitivities and opportunities
    • Identify risks and opportunities and drive action & accountability
  • Establish cost modeling priorities to maximize impact and value creation for Archer
  • Manage the cost tracking process for the complete product lifecycle
  • Distill complex datasets into actionable information for cross-functional leadership
  • Clearly articulate status, progress, opportunities, and risks to the executive team
  • Analyze global cost trends to define cost risk mitigation strategies 
  • Full time, based at Archer Headquarters in San Jose
  • Travel: Minimal

What You Need:

  • An insatiable curiosity and a keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to cut ambiguity and delivery clarity to stakeholders
  • Interest in manufacturing processes, market volatility, and design-to-value strategies
  • Self-starter with a powerful drive to learn and innovate
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced evolving environment and pivot at a moment’s notice
  • BS/BA and 6+ years of related experience, or MBA/MS and 4+ years of related experience
  • Work experience in aerospace, automotive, or EVTOL industries
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance
  • Experience in should-cost modeling, manufacturing process mapping, raw materials markets and other indexes, executive presentation, and cross-functional coordination
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Strong analytical and computer skills (excel/sheets, word/docs, powerpoint/slides)

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Data visualization software expertise 
  • Deep experience analyzing technical drawings and data packages

At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $124,800 - $156,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
