What to expect

Reporting to the Senior Continued Airworthiness Engineer, we are looking for a Continued Airworthiness Engineer to join our aircraft maintenance team here at Vertical.

The role will be responsible for tracking usage, upkeep of aircraft maintenance records and working with the Aircraft Maintenance Planner to manage other continued airworthiness activities for the current prototype aircraft fleet.

The successful candidate will also help to develop the Continued Airworthiness side of the business in support of the future certification programme aircraft. The role will be based at Vertical’s Flight Test Centre at Cotswold Airport, near Cirencester in the Cotswolds. 

What you'll do

Continued Airworthiness Oversight:

  • Monitor and manage continued airworthiness compliance for the prototype aircraft fleet throughout the development and flight test phases.

  • Coordinate with engineering, design, and flight test teams to assess and mitigate airworthiness risks.

  • Assist to track aircraft usage and plan maintenance work scope accordingly 

  • Define and carry out continued airworthiness inspections/reviews on both aircraft and documentation  

Maintenance Tracking Software (e.g. Veryon):

  • Support the back-end configuration of the maintenance tracking software for each individual fleet aircraft.

  • Load and manage maintenance schedules, task cards, life-limited parts, and configuration control data.

  • Ensure real-time accuracy and traceability of aircraft maintenance records.

  • Assist in continuous improvement identification and implementation activities related to maintenance tracking.

AMM & Documentation Support:

  • Assist in the development and validation of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual and related ICA (Instructions for Continued Airworthiness).

  • Work with design engineers and technical writers to ensure maintenance instructions are safe, clear, and practical for prototype operations.

  • Assist in continuous improvement identification and implementation activities related to ICA and documentation.

Process & Procedure Development:

  • Help establish robust processes and SOPs for maintenance planning, defect tracking, and document control.

 

Other Duties involve:

 

  • Assist QA Engineers with root cause analysis and corrective actions on mx documentation issues & findings as required including aircraft defects.

  • Assist further development of Continued Airworthiness awareness training for VA design and engineering staff 

  • Assist airworthiness dept with DOA/POA process as required 

  • Proactively drive resolution of any Continued Airworthiness blockers to technician's workload. 

  • Escalate problems/issues to Senior Continued Airworthiness Engineer, if unresolvable at team level. 

 

What you'll bring

  • Will have experience as a CAMO engineer, Tech Records Administrator or Aircraft Maintenance Planner in an aircraft maintenance organisation. 

  • Should have good IT skills and have experience working with digital aircraft flight/technical logbooks and maintenance tracking system software as well as Microsoft Office package 

  • Should have good attention to detail and can operate to challenging deadlines without compromising standards or quality. 

  • Should demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities, be able to work autonomously and always be willing to lend a hand where needed throughout the business and across different teams. 

  • Would benefit from having a good working knowledge of aircraft production and/or maintenance including documentation, manuals and engineering drawings. 

  • Would benefit from exhibiting leadership abilities and programme management knowledge but not essential 

  • Given the challenging nature of this opportunity, it is important that they are able to work well in a growing team and demonstrate initiative to resolve unique technical problems whilst operating in a fast paced and ever-changing environment. 

 

Basic Qualifications/Experience  

 

  • Experience in CAMO or Tech Records roles. 

  • Accredited aerospace engineering qualification would be beneficial but not essential 

  • Experience in aircraft maintenance or overhaul environments would be beneficial but not essential. 

  • Full UK driving licence.
