Who You Are
Sila Nanotechnologies is seeking a hands-on Construction Superintendent with experience building technical and office facilities. This position will focus on coordinating, overseeing, and supporting construction activities to deliver new or upgraded facilities for battery material research labs, manufacturing lines, and office spaces.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Engage across all teams within Sila as well as interface with outside vendors, contractors, and authorities to deliver new or upgraded facilities
- Work closely with General Contractors and the Capital Projects team to oversee construction according to architectural and MEP drawings. Assist with landing and installing tools, facility upgrades, and other construction tasks
- Complete, process, and maintain construction-related paperwork (eg. safe work permits, field reports, checklists, rounds documentation, etc.) and electronic documents/file structures
- Suggest and implement design changes, schedule adjustments, and priorities to improve performance, cost, or schedule
- Track and report on construction schedule and budget. Communicate project status and forecast with stakeholders. Process construction-related invoices
- Specify, buy, install, and commission smaller tools and systems that are not part of the GC scope
- Make safety a priority: hold all contractors accountable for safe work and perform safety orientation trainings for new contractors
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience in construction or facilities management, including ground-up construction projects
- Skilled in project planning, contract and budget management, schedule management, risk management, and project execution
- Strong track record of onboarding and managing contractors and vendors
- Proven communication and meeting-management skills, across external and internal teams
- Ability to anticipate potential issues and make high-pressure decisions
- Deep experience with construction documentation, drawings, and specifications
- Familiarity with project management fundamentals e.g. Gantt charts and budgets
