This position will be within the Fluence Digital business unit, formed following Fluence’s acquisition of San Francisco-based start-up AMS. Fluence Digital’s IQ platform uses artificial intelligence, advanced price forecasting, portfolio optimization and market bidding to ensure energy storage and flexible generation assets are optimally participating in wholesale electricity markets.

The Commercial Contracts Manager will be an integral member of the Fluence Digital team, leading the contract negotiation process with many of our new clients in the renewable energy industry in both Australian and the United States.
 
The role will be based in Fluence Digital’s Melbourne office (remote candidates are encouraged) and will report to the Country Director (Australia). The role will grow over time as Fluence scales its SaaS products to new customers, types of energy assets, and markets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving the contract negotiation and management process end-to-end with customers, including reviewing contract amendments requested by customers and drafting amendments where required
  • Coordinating with internal teams such as Legal, Operations and Finance in relation to contract amendments requested by customers, following the defined internal contract approval process
  • Directly interacting with customers in undertaking the negotiation of contracts through clear, consistent, timely and professional communication
  • Overall responsibility for standard template contracts, driving continual improvement of such templates as needed to suit business requirements
  • Supporting the development and refinement of the contract approval and governance process, working closely with Legal and Finance teams
  • What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • This role would be suitable for someone with a legal background that is looking to transition to a commercial role, or has strong contract negotiation experience
  • Degree qualified in Law, Commerce, or Business, with 3 or more years of work experience in a legal or contract management role
  • Strong experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial documents, with experience working on software contracts preferred
  • High level of commercial acumen with demonstrated understanding of complex contract structures, commercial risks and legal interpretations
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry, specifically of electricity trading, preferred
  • Efficient and creative problem-solving skills. You can see the world through someone else's eyes in order to find the best Eagernesstoworkincollaborative,dynamic,andteam-basedenvironments
