Join the power movement as a Cryogenics Engineer Intern

The Cryogenics team is an enthusiastic group of full-time engineers with backgrounds that span from Aerospace to National Labs to Start Ups. Our goal is to develop cryogenic helium systems that are critical to keeping the HTS magnets within superconducting temperatures. We work in a fast-paced and strategically collaborative environment to take designs from concept to hardware implementation and testing within extremely short time spans. We are looking for an energetic and resourceful co-op student to join our team. Within this co-op, you will be working to support field commissioning, test planning, and startup execution for a large scale cryogenic plant system.

This co-op position requires 6 months, full-time hours and onsite in our Devens, MA location.

Program Details:

12-16 week internship program

40-50 hours per week with set hourly salary based on year in school

Opportunity in Devens, MA. You will be responsible for your own transportation and housing

Specific project assignments and required technical skillset will vary based on the team’s existing need.

Opportunities available for currently enrolled college students in all levels of schooling from bachelor’s degree to PhD

Interns must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer

What you'll do:

Develop test plans for cryogenic hardware

Assist with identifying/implementing hardware to be used in test configurations

Cross-coordinate with various stakeholder teams to ensure requirements and key system objectives are being met

Learning objectives would include but not be limited to:

(1) process engineering. Read and develop key engineering documents, e.g. process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), develop test plans and procedures

(2) thermohydraulics analysis. Drive down technical risk through analysis, using engineering tools

(3) project management. Build, manage, and report on project milestones, building schedules

(4) hands-on testing. Detailed planning, building setups and support equipment, collecting and reporting data, troubleshooting problems.

What we’re looking for:

Preferred majors include Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

Enthusiasm to learn (design and engineering company processes) and collaborate in a group setting

Exposure to process fluid systems and process flow schematics

Exposure to fluid dynamics and thermodynamics

Experience collecting, troubleshooting, and interpreting data measurements

Exposure to CAD and FEA/CFD software

Interest in entrepreneurship

Must-have Requirements:

Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally

Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time

Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics
