Role Description
The Cathode team is focused on the air-breathing half of our iron-air technology. Our interdisciplinary team develops and tests new materials for the cathode and scales our production capacity to meet the business needs. We need your help to identify creative solutions for process improvement, material characterization, and cell testing to accelerate our development efforts. This role is a great opportunity to work with a team of electrochemists, materials scientists, and mechanical engineers on some of Form Energy’s most exciting challenges.

What You'll Do:
Identify and implement process improvements focused on improving cell performance and durabilityDesign (in Solidworks), assemble, and prototype fixturing for improving throughput for subscale cathode productionUtilize statistical tools (e.g. JMP) to analyze experimental data and draw conclusions to guide cathode developmentPerform material characterization (SEM, optical microscopy) and electrochemical testing of cathode materialsDevelop SOPs for cathode production processes and characterization techniquesPresent updates and findings to the Cathode team during group meetingsPromote safety, especially in the development of new laboratory processes or experimentsWhat You'll Bring:
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related fieldExperience giving presentations of a technical natureExperience in CAD design and mechanical prototyping (Solidworks preferred)Some experience working with or analyzing results from characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, and optical microscopyExperience working in a lab, including a solid understanding of laboratory safety preferredEagerness to learn new hands-on laboratory, characterization, and process engineering skillsBattery experience not required
