About Harbinger

Harbinger Motors Inc. is a Southern California-based electric vehicle manufacturer on a mission to transform the automotive and transportation industries, bringing to market EVs developed from the ground up to address the needs of the Medium Duty vehicle industry. Job Overview:

Harbinger is a company at the forefront of cleantech innovation, developing hardware solutions that bring to market EVs developed from the ground up to address the needs of the Medium Duty vehicle industry. Join our fast-paced and passionate team for a summer internship working directly with the CFO, Ben Dusastre, to gain invaluable experience in capital markets and finance within the cleantech space.

Responsibilities:

Equity Fundraising:

Support the CFO in raising capital through a 2024 convertible note offering and prepare for a 2025 Series B financing round.
Conduct market research, analyze comparable companies, and assist in building the investment thesis.
Develop financial models and presentations to attract potential investors.

Captive Finance Entity:

Assist in the establishment and launch of Harbinger Financial, our captive finance/leasing entity.
Conduct competitive analysis of existing financing options for hardware solutions within the cleantech industry.
Work with legal and accounting teams to structure and document relevant financial agreements.

Inflation Reduction Act 45W Tax Credit:

Analyze the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) 45W tax credit and its potential applicability to Harbinger's business model.
Develop a tax equity structure for reselling tax credits to third-party investors.
Model the financial impact of the tax credit on Harbinger's financial projections.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Academic Background: MBA student with a strong academic record and interest in finance and entrepreneurship.
Previous Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, management consulting, or a related field. Experience in the cleantech or hardware space is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in advanced Excel modeling and financial analysis tools, with strong PowerPoint presentation skills.
Personal Qualities: Highly motivated, results-oriented, and a quick learner with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Passion for cleantech and hardware innovation.
