ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Business Development Manager - Fluence Digital will be an integral member of Fluence Digital’s Commercial team, actively influencing Fluence Digital’s business development efforts. The role is primarily focused on leading the sales activities for Fluence Digital's innovative bidding optimisation, and asset performance management software solutions for renewable energy & BESS assets. The role will focus on Australia, with potential opportunities to expand into the broader APAC Region.
The role can be based in Melbourne, Hobart, or Sydney and will report to the Director of Business Development, with close interaction with the Sales Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Operations teams. The role will grow over time as Fluence scales its SaaS products to new customers, types of energy assets, and markets.
Key role responsibilities include:
Business Development & Market Growth (80%)
- Support the growth of the Fluence Digital's Bidding Optimisation (Mosaic) and Asset Performance Management (Nispera) solutions in Australia
- Lead the end-to-end sales process by preparing customer-ready presentations, pitching Fluence Digital’s software to potential customers, managing customer qualification, deal scoping, structuring, negotiation, and deal closing
- Utilize Fluence Digital’s sales engineering tools and processes to model and quantify the value Fluence Digital can add for individual customers via the Fluence Digital technology
- Maintain regular meeting cadence with the Fluence Digital's Europe-based APM team
- Support relationships with key customers, electricity market operators, regulatory bodies, utilities and external consultants
- Maintain accurate records in Fluence Digital’s customer relationship management system, and support the continuous development of Business Development processes and tools
- Track maturation of Fluence Digital’s competitive environment to inform Fluence Digital positioning, product offering, and go-to-market strategy
What will the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?
- 5-7 years of work experience, including experience in a business develop mentor sales role
- Experience in the energy industry, including renewable energy asset management and/or energy trading desirable
- SaaS company experience, and experience with business / enterprise customers, highly preferred
- Degree in Commerce, Engineering, Science or another analytical field required.
- Ability to build and maintain robust and collaborative relationships with a wide range of user types, across geographies, company and asset types, and use cases
- Eagerness to work in collaborative, dynamic, and team-based environments.
- Willingness to learn quickly on-the-job across a range of technical subject matters
