ICON is looking for a hard-working, creative, and team-oriented problem solver to serve as an Associate on the Public Sector Business Development (BD) team. As a Business Development Associate at ICON, you'll leverage your passion for robotics, technology, space, defense, and housing to build and execute go-to-market strategies. Our ideal candidate is an experienced researcher, adept at creating strategy decks, and is eager to create a public sector BD pipeline. This role is based in Austin, TX and reports to ICON's VP of Global Public Sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help build public sector go-to-market strategies for space, defense, and disaster housing.
- Analyze market sizes and ICON’s competitive advantages in various public sector markets.
- Execute on the go-to-market strategies by helping to build and manage pipelines using tools such as Bloomberg Government and public procurement sites such as sam.gov.
- Prepare technical marketing materials for potential customers and partners.
- Conduct stakeholder mapping on large organizations.
- Conduct user interviews and track and analyze the data.
- Research and write grant applications to government agencies, such as the Departments of Energy and DARPA.
- Analyze how public sector housing policy and construction regulations affect ICON’s BD efforts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of relevant work experience (including fast growing startups, investment banking, or management consulting) with a bachelor's degree or 2+ years of experience with an advanced degree.
- Experience creating strategy decks (PPT, Google Slides, or Keynote).
- Strong desire to learn and grow with professional drive and positive attitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for space, technology, defense, housing, and/or innovation, especially as it relates to ICON’s public sector clients, such as NASA and the Department of Defense.

- Financial modelling skills
