About the company:

ICEYE is a Finnish space technology company that owns and operates the world's largest commercial synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation. The company delivers continuous, all-weather, day-and-night Earth observation capabilities, enabling persistent monitoring and rapid detection of changes at any location on the planet. Its core offerings span SAR data products, mission systems for sovereign governments, defense and intelligence solutions, and natural catastrophe monitoring for the insurance, banking, and public sectors. ICEYE plays a significant role in climate resilience and disaster response by providing near real-time, observed data on natural catastrophes such as floods, wildfires, and hurricanes. Unlike traditional modelling approaches, ICEYE delivers actual satellite-derived flood extents and depths, empowering governments, insurers, and utilities to respond faster and more accurately to climate-driven disasters. This capability supports community resilience, more precise insurance claims processing, and informed policy decisions in the face of increasing climate risk. What distinguishes ICEYE is its combination of the largest SAR constellation globally, sub-meter (25 cm) resolution imagery, and an end-to-end operational intelligence infrastructure that includes deployable ground units capable of compressing collection-to-dissemination timelines to minutes. Founded with a mission to make Earth observation data continuously available and actionable, ICEYE serves defense, intelligence, government, and commercial clients worldwide, positioning itself as a critical enabler of both national security and climate adaptation efforts.

Role highlights:

  • Brand Design Trainee

  • Location: Espoo, Finland

  • Department: Brand & Design

  • Reports to: Head of Brand & Design

  • Employment type: Paid Internship, 6-months

  • Workplace model: Hybrid, 3-days a week in office

  • Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)

Why this role matters:

As a Brand Design Trainee, you will be an integral part of our creative team. First and foremost, you are a designer. While we love motion, 3D, and camera work, everything we do is anchored in solid design fundamentals—typography, layout, grid systems, composition, and color theory.

This is not a pure media production, camera operator, or simple video-cutting role. It is a design-led internship where you will learn to apply your unique visual style across both static and moving canvases. You will get stuck into real projects from day one, helping to translate the complex world of space tech into beautiful brand assets.

Who We Are

ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.

ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.

ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.

Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

  • Graphic & Brand Design: Support the team on essential static design challenges, including event collateral, digital ads, presentation deck layouts, and internal communication assets in Figma.

  • Motion Design Support: Assist with the design, editing, resizing, and exporting of animated social media assets, presentation animations, and hype reels using After Effects and Premiere Pro.

  • Map & Data Graphics: Work alongside our Data & Visual Specialists to assist in translating complex GIS or map data into clear, beautiful, and digestible static and moving visual graphics.

  • AI-Augmented Workflows: Learn and adopt 2026 AI-first techniques (such as automated rotoscoping, AI voice enhancement, and generative asset creation) to help the team speed up design iteration cycles.

  • Occasional AV & Studio Assistance: Provide a helping hand setting up recording gear, cameras, lighting, and microphones for internal media projects like podcasts or vodcasts when needed.

  • File & Library Management: Help keep our shared Figma libraries, design assets, templates, and video project archives beautifully organized.

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

  • Design-Focused Background: Currently studying or recently graduated in Graphic Design, Motion Design, Visual Communications, or a related creative field with a heavy design focus. (Note: Pure media production or technical AV backgrounds without a graphic design foundation will not be suitable for this role).

  • Strong Visual Instincts: A clean, foundational eye for layout, graphic hierarchy, grids, and typography. You understand what makes a composition look balanced and professional.

  • The Creative Stack: Foundational-to-intermediate familiarity with Figma, Adobe After Effects, and Premiere Pro. Figma and After Effects should feel like your natural workspaces.

  • The "Get-Stuck-In" Attitude: A hunger to learn, zero ego, and a team-first mindset. You are excited to work on anything from an animated social post to updating standard PDF slides.

  • Portfolio Requirement: A design portfolio showing your eye for layout, branding, and typography (static work is required!). This should be accompanied by a motion reel or video clips showing how you apply those design principles to motion.

Language: Excellent communication and teamwork skills in English.

Nice to haves:

  • Photography & Videography: Experience capturing behind-the-scenes content, taking corporate headshots, or operating mirrorless cameras and basic studio lighting.

  • AV & Audio Production: An interest or background in audio mixing, setting up podcast/vodcast equipment, or working with microphoning and vocal recording setups.

  • 3D Curiosity: A basic understanding or curiosity about 3D animation (such as Blender or Cinema 4D) to bring depth to your design assets.

  • Technical Interest: A genuine interest in space tech, satellites, or geographical data!

Application Process

  • TA Screening (30mins)

  • HM Screening (45mins)

  • On-site Team interview (60mins)
