As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team, you will use your knowledge of building simulation to analyze the performance of concrete 3D printed (C3DP) homes and structures of various types and locations. The work will be used to establish the performance requirements for the buildings and homes built with ICON’s wall system. As an ICONIC, you will be a leader and direct contributor to the development of entirely novel approaches to advance humankind’s ability to provide dignified, affordable, resilient, and sustainable shelter to the world. This role will report to our Director of Building Design & Performance out of our Austin, TX office.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Modelling of Structural and Architectural/Structural integrated designs in Autodesk Revit.
  • Manage the implementation of supporting software applications for BIM and project delivery. Prepare workflows integrating other software with Revit® software for; user productivity, model coordination, analysis, data enrichment, rendering and animation—particularly with Rhino, Grasshopper and Dynamo. 
  • Assist in the development of Revit templates and families library in close collaboration with Construction Architects & others within the Architecture & Building Performance department .
  • Institute automation of processes and tasks using scripting and/or integrations with 3rd party tools — particularly Rhino and Grasshopper.
  • Prepare BIM models and structural drawings for internal review and external submission.
  • Produce plans and 3D models for ICON architectural projects as well as mockups and prototypes.
  • Produce detailed drawings for bids, tender and construction (including foundation plans, reinforcement drawings and concrete/steel detailing).
  • Update models and plans with drawing revisions.
  • Coordinate services between structural and architectural layouts.
  • Collaborate with external consultants in structural and MEP engineering.
  • Stay abreast in new and emerging technologies and best practices impacting digital design to enhance productivity and efficiency as well as profits.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree acquired in Architecture or a Construction-related discipline.
  • 2+ years experience of Architectural and Structural BIM-Modelling from conception to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of Revit 2020 or later versions including performing Revit model management, administration and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in other BIM related tools such as Navisworks. Proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper and/or Dynamo, AutoCAD Google Suite, hand sketching, and excellent verbal communication.
  • Ability to integrate digital design/BIM products with other applications (e.g., Autodesk, Construction, Cost Estimation).
  • Experience coordinating all phases of design (schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration) with all disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
  • Working knowledge of the International Residential (IRC) and Building (IBC) codes, ADA guidelines, fair housing act (FHA), principles of concrete design & construction, construction specifications, and test methods and standards associated with the testing of building envelope systems (AAMA/ASTM).
  • Desire to work with a highly collaborative team, on a quickly evolving product, and in a fast paced environment.
  • Interest in sustainable design, curiosity for novel architectural technologies, and desire to perfect the craft of construction.
