About the company:

Fluence is the leading global energy storage technology and services company, created and backed by Siemens and AES, two industry powerhouses and pioneers in energy storage. Fluence unites the scale, experience, breadth, and financial backing of the two most experienced icons in energy storage.

Our mission is to create a more sustainable future by transforming the way we power our world. Energy storage is critical to this transformation, yet today the market is fragmented and customers face the challenge of finding a trusted technology partner amidst conflicting technical claims, inexperienced vendors and installers, and new market entrants with limited power sector knowledge.

Fluence brings the proven technology solutions and services that overcome the commercial and regulatory barriers that stand in the way of modernizing our energy networks. We are the partner that can deliver at a global scale with the most experienced and knowledgeable team in the world.

Fluence is seeking a Battery Module Engineer to lead the design and release of battery module thermal components. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in thermal management systems for battery modules.

Responsibilities:
Lead the thermal design and development of battery modules, ensuring alignment with overall system requirements and performance targets.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Update and maintain the design of the battery module thermal components, incorporating the latest industry trends and technological advancements.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure parts are released on time with high quality, driving supplier development and performance management.
Review and maintain supplier cold plate DFMEA, PFMEA, and end-of-line performance checks, ensuring robust quality control processes.
Work with the greater module team to ensure the overall performance, reliability, and manufacturability of the module, integrating thermal solutions seamlessly into the product design.
Identify opportunities to improve thermal performance through innovative design solutions and advanced material applications.
Resolve module engineering issues in the field related to thermal performance, providing expert guidance and support for troubleshooting and corrective actions.
Develop and refine module thermal component specifications, ensuring they meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Drive the thermal management strategy for battery modules, including heat generation analysis, cooling system design, and thermal interface materials.
Lead thermal validation and verification activities, including simulation, prototyping, and testing, to ensure product reliability and performance under various operating conditions.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in thermal management, contributing to the strategic direction of the thermal engineering team.

Requirements:
10+ years of experience designing thermal components and cold plates, ideally for battery systems, with a proven track record of delivering high-performance solutions.
Bachelor of Science / Master’s in Engineering, with a focus on Mechanical, Thermal, or Electrical Engineering.
Extensive experience in building and using thermal/mechanical analytical models to predict and optimize thermal performance.
Proven expertise in cold plate design and manufacturing, including brazed cold plates, and familiarity with relevant manufacturing processes.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work autonomously and drive projects to completion under tight timelines.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing engineering challenges.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Highly tuned drive to win and deliver excellence, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
