What success will look like for the Cell Test Technician
The role will be varied and energetic and will include:
- Work with internal teams to understand and execute cell testing activities.
- Carry out daily health checks, equipment/rig maintenance and fault diagnostics
- Create, optimise and change-control test scripts which run on cell test equipment in our battery development centre
- Periodic monitoring of live cell test data, ensuring high quality results
- Continually improve cell testing methodology and processes to ensure the quality, reliability and repeatability of test data
- Carry out basic data analysis
- Work with external suppliers and internal facility teams to ensure equipment is serviced and calibrated according to requirements
- Hardware and software problem finding and fixing in a timely manner
- Feedback into the electrochemistry team on day-to-day test progress
- Maintaining a high standard of lab practice and maintenance (experience of 5S or other is advantageous) and working with engineers to establish continuous improvement processes
- General assistance on-site, taking delivery of items, stores work, ordering equipment
- Ability to work cross functionally within the Battery team, supporting other activities as required
- Manual fabrication and modification of components and test rigs using common workshop equipment
- Occasional site facilities maintenance as and when required
Everything sounds very interesting but how do I know this is the role for me?
We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences:
- 1-2 years of experience in the field of lithium-ion cell testing (electrical/abuse testing)
- Experience of module and pack level testing is desirable
- Experienced in the use of battery cyclers and environmental chambers, data acquisition and battery test scripting languages e.g. Arbin, Binder etc.
- Have a good working knowledge of electrical schematics and technical assembly drawings.
- Would have experience with wiring, crimping, soldering etc.
- Ensuring all appropriate paperwork or recording is completed and maintained (job cards, tech logs)
