The Role:

The Associate Packaging Engineer ensures the development of packaging required by Meati Foods Packaging team. This role will support the packaging team across all packaging development and equipment projects. This includes, but is not limited to, specification creation, data management, graphic approval, the launch of new project/products, industrial application, and optimization of the existing process/packaging. This person is experienced and familiar with packaging equipment, and confident working hands-on with equipment. They are eager to learn and apply packaging engineering principles to facilitate integration of effective packaging solutions and effective project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Design new packaging to meet defined needs, manufacturing capabilities, quality, and cost.
  • Identify and source equipment needed for operations.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to commercialize projects.
  • Identify and support manufacturing in the resolution of packaging issues and implementation of new products.
  • Investigate and propose cost reduction initiatives.
  • Execute optimization opportunities internally and with partners.
  • Apply project management skills in leading self-driven projects
  • Conduct Packaging Line Trial tests for all new packaging components and new product development.
  • Stay up to date on packaging equipment, sustainable materials and new technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements:

  • BS in Packaging Engineering
  • 1-2 years of experience of like experience preferred
  • Proficiency with palletization software (TOPS or CAPE)
  • Ability to analyze artwork: understand scores, perforations, bleeds, etc...
  • Embraces a hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment
  • Great understanding of the package development process from ideation to commercialization
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 20% and potentially internationally
  • Passion for sustainability; H2R, Mycelium, PCR, sugar cane, hemp, ocean recycled, and biodegradable packaging
  • Great understanding of how packaging materials interact with equipment

Compensation:

  • Range is $62,000 – 82,000 including a potential annual bonus equity. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
