About the company:

Plenty is a new kind of farm for a new kind of world. We’re on a mission to bring healthy food to the world while protecting the environment. Our pesticide-free, non-GMO leafy greens taste fresh-picked from the garden because they were. We grow and deliver locally, cutting transportation miles and reducing emissions. Plenty’s indoor farms mean fresh produce is always in season.

We are a team of growers, plant scientists, engineers, artists, foodies and plant romantics working to improve the lives of plants, people, and the planet. We currently operate in South San Francisco, CA, and Laramie, WY. Our new Compton, CA site set to open in 2021 will be the world’s first, high-capacity indoor vertical farm.

Plenty believes food justice is social justice. Equal access to healthy, nutritious food is fundamental to a quality life. We build farms in communities that need better access to food and jobs. Plenty provides living-wage, year-round jobs along with flavorful, nutrient-rich food to the communities we serve. We use automation and robotics so machines do the backbreaking labor while people perform new kinds of skilled agricultural, science and high-tech jobs.

Now is the time to help Plenty achieve its mission to feed the world healthy food in a sustainable way. We are a start-up with expanding career growth opportunities.

We are actively seeking those who embody our core values: find a way, down to earth, & grow together. These values guide how we work together as teammates, approach innovation and engage with customers. Does this sound like you? Join the mission as we improve human and planetary health by increasing access to craveable fruits and vegetables.

About Plenty

Plenty is on a mission to make fresh, pesticide-free fruits and vegetables more accessible to everyone.  Our cutting-edge indoor, vertical farms produce extraordinary yields using a fraction of the land and water outdoor farms need.  Nutrient-rich, mouth-watering and locally grown, our crops help people, communities and our planet to be healthier and more resilient.

The people and teams who make up Plenty are at the core of how we do this.  We are a collaborative and innovative bunch. We are passionate about our contributions to Plenty, the communities around us and our planet, but never take ourselves too seriously.  We’re down to Earth, we grow together, and we always find a way.  Most importantly, we’re here to improve the lives of plants, people and our planet.

About the Role

The Associate Manager, Business Operations will be a strategic thinker who is excited to execute and have an immediate day-to-day impact on the whole company. This individual will work on a variety of high impact initiatives to implement the company’s corporate strategy and keep us on-track to achieving our goals. This Associate Manager will develop insightful reporting tools that empower executives with the right information to make decisions, drive analysis and preparation for internal and external meetings, inform corporate strategy and decision making, manage and resource key internal projects requested by the CEO, and work directly with Plenty’s senior management team to do all of the above.

The Associate Manager will join the Office of the CEO and report to the Chief of Staff, who works directly under the CEO. This is a high visibility role; the Associate Manager’s time will be spent across every team at Plenty, providing broad exposure to the entire business and thus creating an opportunity to develop a career in agriculture, technology, sustainability, and business. This level of exposure will provide an excellent “jumping-off point” for someone early in their career to learn how an early stage company functions and grows, while building a broad and diverse network inside and outside the company.

What you'll do

  • Develop, organize, deliver insightful dashboards and other reporting tools so Plenty executives are empowered to make good, on-time decisions
  • Build high-impact presentations and memos for senior executives and the Plenty Board of Directors; prepare these individuals for presentations, and at times deliver presentations yourself.
  • Assist the Chief of Staff with strategic business planning, headcount management, identifying key organizational metrics, and other operationally strategic projects.
  • Support management of our portfolio of projects and programs, the execution arm of our corporate strategy
  • Lead high priority projects that operationalize our corporate strategy.
  • Identify decisions that need to be made, and facilitate decision making with Plenty’s senior leadership team by analyzing and articulating trade-offs

What you'll bring to the table

  • 2-4 years of experience in management/strategy consulting, business operations, and/or program or project management
  • Strong communicator who is able to structure a strategy or plan in Slides or Memo form for internal and external meetings.
  • Analytical individual able to understand, manipulate, build models, and present in Excel and/or Google Sheets with the goal of recommending strategic decisions
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and create new business processes from scratch given we are often doing things that have not been done before
  • Team player who will work hands-on (e.g., Directly with cross functional teams, visiting the farm as needed) with the team to implement change
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders from across the company, using strong communication and presentation skills to do so
  • BS/BA required
