Lucid is looking for an experienced intellectual property attorney and leader to join our legal team.  This role will support Lucid’s business leaders and stakeholders in the management and strategic use of a growing intellectual property portfolio and will be a key member of the legal leadership team.

The Role

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive intellectual property program for patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and other intellectual and industrial property rights
  • Advise on, and develop strategy for, use and licensing of intellectual and industrial property rights
  • Evaluate inventions to determine patentability and draft, file, and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and foreign counterparts
  • Manage the company’s growing IP portfolio
  • Draft, negotiate, interpret, and advise clients on IP-related agreements and IP provisions in commercial agreements
  • Provide leadership for IP enforcement, defense, validity and other disputes
  • Work seamlessly and collaboratively within the legal team and as a legal business partner to multiple internal business stakeholders
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of substantive intellectual property experience with a corporate legal department or law firm
  • Experience in preparation and prosecution of patent applications is a basic requirement
  • Member of Patent Bar and technical degree or relevant technical experience are strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to effectively relay complex information in a concise format
  • Practical business judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects
  • Proven track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, working proactively, being resourceful, and taking on additional responsibility
  • Law degree (J.D.) from ABA-accredited institution
  • Eligible to practice law in California
