What you'll do:
- Lead battery pack architecture layouts and tradeoff studies to ensure the battery can meet high level power, energy, volume, mass, cycle life, cost, safety requirements.
- Own external battery envelope . Work with the vehicle layout team and other external stakeholders to develop the battery pack interface points..
- Own the top level battery pack assembly and manage internal interfaces between subsystems, ensuring that everything can assemble and function as expected. Work with battery design engineers to allocate space for thermal, structural, electrical components. Conduct necessary tolerance analyses
- Lead weekly battery pack CAD reviews and flythroughs. Ensure CAD cleanliness to Archer standards.
- Collaborate with systems engineering teams to review/approve battery requirements, using analysis/prototypes/experience to ensure the battery pack architecture can meet the design intent and requirements
- Work with the test and integration teams to ensure performance requirements are met at both the bench and aircraft levels
- Own the battery pack engineering BOM and define the team’s release process.
- As the architecture phase comes to completion, own the design/release process of individual components within the battery. Working with suppliers, supply chain, and quality on DFM, cost, schedule, and component delivery.
- Work with the manufacturing engineering team to support process feasibility studies, prototype builds, and launch of production sites.
- What you need:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience
- Experience with HV systems
- Expert understanding of efficient mechanical/thermal/electrical design.
- Knows how to use simplified tools, calculations, CAE to quickly drive development.
- Solid background in CAD / tolerance stack / GD&T (NX experience preferred)
- Experience going through the product development process from concept to high volume production.
- Developed parts with a number of manufacturing processes: laser welding, stamping, composites, adhesives, brazing, ultrasonic welding, fastening.
- Familiar with UN38.3, IEC, UL, and ISO standards as they pertain to HV batteries.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $196,800 - $246,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
