STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
ICON is looking for an Application Test Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of Application Test infrastructure and operations. You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation of test operations and infrastructure. Additionally, serving as the point-of-contact for a cross-functional team to test the structural and architectural design feasibility and the performance of our printed structures. The application test team focuses primarily on the acceptance, qualification, and R&D test campaigns focused on the structures built using the Vulcan and Magma 3D printing systems. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX location and will report to Senior Testing Manager Additionally, travel to ICON’s job sites to support troubleshooting may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Architect test campaigns, design test infrastructure, and execute test plans.
- Design test plans and procedures to test architectural and structural designs using additive manufacturing processes.
- Transfer test plans and procedures to a ConOps (Construction Print Operations) operational process to print and then construct using our additive manufacturing process.
- Acts as subject matter expert in cross-functional projects to solve complex problems.
- Liaison between a theoretical design and turning it into something achievable.
- Support application technician (operator) teams in the fabrication and build-up of test stand infrastructure and test articles.
- Work with systems and design engineers to develop systemic upgrade plans and propose potential solutions to test issues.
- Assist in designing and developing the pre-project phase to understand the customer’s needs.
- Turn pre-project plans into specific test plans.
- Testing is data-driven; therefore, be proactive in collecting and disseminating data.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other engineering discipline
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a related field of Structural or Civil Engineering
- Understanding and insight of Construction Processes
- Experience using Concrete and Cementitious Materials
- Attention to detail
Desired
- Experience generating functional diagrams and process diagrams of complex systems
- Versed in SolidWorks, Revit, and/or Rhino
- Experience in FEA and FMEA
REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be prepared to work, in part, in extreme environments: temps > 100 degrees or below freezing, sun, rain, mud, lack of electricity, etc. We get dirty.
