Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

We are seeking a skilled Aerial Cinematographer to capture high-quality aerial video and photography using aerial gimbals and drones. This role blends helicopter gimbal operation, technical drone piloting, cinematic storytelling, and visual creativity to produce compelling footage to support Archer’s marketing initiatives, brand content, and online platforms. 

The best candidates will be able to operate successfully within time sensitive situations with little room for error. They will also continue to elevate the look and feel of marketing content by supporting flight test, manufacturing, and company goals. 

This role is based in-person at Archer’s flight test facilities in Salinas, CA and headquarters in San Jose, CA. 

Responsibilities

  • Operate aerial gimbal and drones safely and legally to capture cinematic aerial footage and still photography
  • Plan and execute aerial shots based on creative briefs, storyboards, and location requirements
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and ground camera teams to align visual style and shot intent
  • Conduct pre-flight planning, airspace checks, and on-site risk assessments
  • Maintain drones, cameras, gimbals, batteries, and related equipment
  • Manage footage, including offloading, organizing, and basic color correction when required
  • Adapt to changing weather, lighting, and environmental conditions
  • Ensure compliance with all aviation regulations, permits, and safety protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Active and current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • Proven experience operating professional aerial gimbal and drones for cinematic or commercial work
  • Strong understanding of camera systems, lenses, framing, movement, and composition
  • Knowledge of flight planning, airspace rules, and safety best practices
  • Ability to successfully capture content in complex / changing environments
  • Experience filming for commercials, branded content, real estate, sports, or events
  • Solid communication and teamwork skills

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including early mornings or weekends
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in dedicated aerial cinematography and drone piloting
  • Excellent understanding of airport regulations and helicopter safety
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
  • Familiarity with the production landscape across pre-production, production and post. 
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry, eVTOL technology, or sustainable mobility is a strong plus.

For this position we are targeting a base pay between $108,200 - $140,000.
