Primary Responsibilities

  • Support assessment of BESS solutions to comply with NER generator performance standards for grid connections.
  • Manage grid modelling studies performed by third parties for BESS system grid connections, including model troubleshooting and technical support.
  • Undertake preliminary modelling and assessments (such as MATs)
  • Management and provision of R1 and R2 documents and technical information (such as performance curves, datasheets, RUGs etc.) and provision of project-specific documents when required.
  • Collaboration with design teams for preparation of key design items affecting grid connections, including voltage control strategy, plant performance curves etc.
  • Review and inform BESS and BoP designs for grid connected BESS assets to ensure GPS and Registration compliance.
  • Providing input and assistance to the Global Product Management Group.
  • Design and negotiation of R2 Testing regimes for each project.
  • Collaboration with commissioning teams for timely performance of R2 Testing.
  • Manage stakeholders (internal, customer, consultant, regulatory etc.) to ensure grid connections are achieved end-to-end in a timely manner, including attending meetings and providing progress reports.
  • Assist technical teams in maintaining and updating proprietary PPC and OEM dynamic models.

  • Secondary Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility and locational studies utilizing dynamic and grid models to identify and evaluate opportunities.
  • Assist technical teams with qualification and validation of new inverter makes/models when required, including assessment of dynamic models to ensure performance with respect to GPS requirements.
  • Support modelling requirements and activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop new PPC solutions.
  • Qualifications

  • Registered or Certified Professional Engineer (RPEng or CPEng)
  • Engineering degree in Electrical or Power Systems
  • Competencies

  • Ability to manage consultants and designers in sales, design, and construction/commissioning phases across multiple projects - tier one companies valued.
  • Experience in review of grid connection compliance design.
  • NEM grid connection experience, especially BESS GPS and Registration experience.
  • Generator and power systems modelling – experience with modelling BESS assets.
  • Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory software
  • Experience with developing, maintaining, troubleshooting PPC and OEM dynamic models.
  • Substation electrical design well regarded
  • Experience in negotiation with major stakeholders, such as clients, consultants, contractors and authorities
  • Experience in high pressure environment
