About the company:

Revolutionising urban air mobility and electrifying air travel

Our mission

At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), ‘zero emissions’ aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.

We won’t realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to ‘redefine’ aerospace best practices.

We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030.

What to Expect

We’re developing advanced technologies to support the next generation of aerospace energy systems - and adhesives are a critical part of our manufacturing innovation. As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll play a key role in defining, developing, and implementing adhesive solutions for aerospace battery packs. You'll be part of a fast-moving, highly collaborative engineering team focused on both speed and excellence, ensuring our processes meet rigorous aviation standards while enabling scalable production.

What You’ll Do

  • Define adhesive solutions across the entire battery pack, specifying materials, joint designs, dispensing processes, and application equipment.

  • Lead adhesive material screening and joint verification through comprehensive test programs.

  • Develop and validate adhesive application methods that meet aerospace requirements.

  • Specify and commission dispensing equipment and automation systems that meet safety and industry standards.

  • Monitor and improve process capability (CPK), ensuring repeatable and high-quality adhesive applications.

  • Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including manufacturing instructions and SOPs.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize manufacturing quality.

What We’d Like You to Bring

  • A degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related field).

  • 3–5 years of experience with adhesive materials, applications, and equipment - preferably in aerospace or automotive manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of statistical tools like DOE, CPK, and SPC.

  • Hands-on experience with automated adhesive dispensing systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, analytical mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic development environment.

  • Experience with battery pack manufacturing or assembly.

  • Familiarity with material testing standards (mechanical, thermal, dielectric).

  • Knowledge of aviation certification processes and standards.

  • Proficiency in CAD tools and PLM systems.

What can you expect from us?

We're on a mission. Where others see limits, we see opportunity, and we work at pace. Working at Vertical isn't your average role but for those seeking a challenge, a flexible, supportive organisation and an incredible team; working here is an opportunity to do the best work of your career.

Our approach promotes ingenuity and courage, while our environment builds success through diligence in safety and being open in the way we work. The only way we're going to assure the next chapter of aviation history is by working as a team, relentlessly, towards our goal.

Our benefits

Our people matter - we're not going anywhere without them. Which is why our company benefits go beyond the essentials.

  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holiday

  • 5 extra days per year to buy (or sell)

  • 5 extra days holiday when you get married or enter a civil partnership
