Zeno Power

Zeno Power is a nuclear battery company that develops radioisotope power systems designed to deliver reliable, long-duration energy in extreme environments, from the deep sea to deep space. The company harnesses the heat generated by radioisotope decay to produce clean, steady power ranging from 1 to hundreds of watts, enabling missions and infrastructure that would otherwise be limited by conventional battery or solar technology. Zeno is targeting commercial delivery of its systems by 2027 and has successfully demonstrated a scaled nuclear prototype at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 2023. Zeno's work carries a meaningful sustainability dimension: its nuclear batteries are powered by recycled nuclear waste materials, specifically americium-241 sourced from used nuclear fuel and strontium-90, effectively converting radioactive byproducts into a clean energy resource. This circular approach to nuclear material reuse positions the company at the intersection of advanced energy technology and environmental responsibility, reducing the burden of nuclear waste while generating zero-emission power for critical applications. The company is building radioisotope Stirling generators for NASA lunar surface missions, seabed infrastructure for the U.S. Pentagon, and launch approval pathways for U.S. Space Force applications. Zeno has secured a $50 million Series B funding round, established a nuclear battery manufacturing facility at the historic Vallecitos Nuclear Center in Sunol, California in partnership with NorthStar, and signed a strategic agreement with Orano for priority access to americium-241 supply.
