ABOUT THIS POSITION

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office) in Arlington, VA

Fluence is seeking an intern to work with the Americas New Customer Solutions team. This role will directly create value for Fluence customers via deployment of new digital technologies into operating sites in the Americas region. These technologies aim to improve key operational metrics in the young and rapidly growing stationary storage industry. This is a significant role in a young, dynamic group inside Fluence with opportunity for high individual contribution and impact. 

As a New Customer Solutions Intern, you will:
·       Work on applications utilizing Fluence’s extensive fleet operating data, covering multiple GWhs and a decade in operation.
·       Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and maintain web applications and services.
·       Work on both front-end and back-end codebases, contributing to the entire stack.
·       Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and server-side languages like Node.js, Python, or Ruby.
·       Assist in database design and management, including data modeling and querying.
·       Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
·       Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop solutions.
·       Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
·       Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to enhance development practices.
·       Support the team with testing, deployment, and monitoring of applications.

What does the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure services (e.g. AWS)
  • Familiarity with back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Ruby.
  • Understanding of database concepts and experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong problem resolution and decision-making skills, creative and resourceful, display sound judgment and demonstrate accountability
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive and agile growth environment
  • A collaborative spirit in working across teams and functions
  • Interest in both the fundamentals of technology as well as adoption of technology by society and industry.
